The Developmental Psychopathology Lab

The research in our lab centers around understanding psychological disorders across the lifespan, with a specific focus on learning disabilities (LDs), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other disorders that commonly co-occur with LDs and ADHD. Our studies use multiple methods to determine the causes and consequences of these disorders. We apply behavioral and molecular genetic methods to identify genetic and environmental factors that increase susceptibility to these disorders, then use neuropsychological and functional brain imaging techniques to determine how these risk factors are expressed in the brain. By integrating these results with data from our clinical studies, we hope to develop comprehensive models that explain how these causal factors lead to the final behavioral symptoms of these disorders, facilitating the development of effective interventions.
