My research centers on the representation, production, processing, and acquisition of language and, more generally, of knowledge. I am currently investigating categorization strategies and the developmental acquisition of rule-like behavior. This and related research is being used to develop a featural representation of skills and learning environments that will relate learning and performance.
I also continue to quantify and model phonetic variation using corpora of spontaneous speech, and to explored grammatical encoding and speech production.
My research is interdisciplinary work that uses statistical, computational, distributional, and experimental methodologies, drawing on data from large corpora, psycholinguistic tasks, typological surveys, and speech errors.
I am currently the Assistant to the Director for the Center for Research on Training at CU, funded by a Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) grant to investigate training of knowledge and skill.
