Research - M. T. Banich

I. Overview

My research program takes a cognitive neuroscience approach to understanding attentional functioning using a multiplicity of investigatory techniques including behavioral methods, functional magnetic resonance imaging and electrophysiological methods.  Currently, I have two main lines of research, a more recent one using functional MRI techniques to understand the neural components of attentional functioning, and another of longer duration that examines how interactions between brain regions, most specifically those between the cerebral hemispheres, are critical to attentional processing.

II. Brain regions involved in attentional selection as assessed by fMRI

III. The modulation of attentional functioning by interaction between brain regions
