MasterŐs Checklist for Cognitive Graduate Students

Because cognitive students do Plan 1 for their masterŐs, you must take a minimum of 4, but no more than 6, masterŐs thesis hours (Graduate School Rules, p. 12).  You can take these hours anytime before you defend your thesis.  The course number is PSYC 6951, but you must get the call number from Nancy Grabowski, there is a different one for each professor.

Diploma Card (get from front desk or Nancy)

Application for candidacy (on graduate school website).  Should be filled out and turned into Nancy Grabowski at least 2 months before defense.

2 weeks before defense, turn in to Nancy Grabowski the masterŐs exam report (form available on the graduate school website) to have your committee approved by the director of graduate studies and the graduate school.

Send announcement to co-faculty/co-students that you are defending

Defend your thesis

Get committee to sign masterŐs exam report (form you turned in 2 weeks before defense)

If your signature page is already in grad school format, have your committee sign it that day (you will want to turn this into graduate school – make copy first)

Make corrections to masterŐs thesis and put in graduate school format (if you have not already)

Print out hard copy (on regular paper) and make appt. with Grad school to have somebody check the format

Turn into a pdf (can do this in clipr)
