Are you suffering from Bipolar Disorder?
A new course for individuals designed to help prevent depression,
reduce stress, and promote the health and well-being of individuals with mood disorders
If you are an individual who has been experiencing depressive and manic episodes, you may be eligible to participate in the Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for the Prevention of Mood Episodes at the University of Colorado.
The project includes eight weekly classes, 2-hours per week. In the classes, you will:
* Learn mindfulness practices, focusing on how to pay attention to the present moment in an open and accepting way, without being pulled into thinking about the past or worrying about the future
* Become more aware of thoughts, feelings, and sensations that increase risk of depression and how to respond skillfully to such experiences;
* Learn practical information about mood episodes, including warning signs, and learn ways to change how you think and what you do that may help prevent future mood episodes.
If you are eligible, you will be invited to participate in the course and receive the class materials at no charge.
You will also be asked to answer questions about how things are going with your mood, stress, and the skills taught in the class. You will be paid for your time to answer these questions.
