How do I convert an SPSS data set into a SAS data set?

Background:

SASPairs can convert either an SPSS system file (i.e., a .sps file) or an SPSS portable file (a .por file). It is much easier to convert the portable file, so if you are familiar with SPSS, it is suggested that you create a .por file from your system data set.

NOTE VERY WELL: If you want to convert SPSS system files (i.e., .sps files), then you must first set up SASPairs to allow batch processing (how do I do this?).

Instructions:

  1. Start SASPairs (how do I do this?).
  2. From the SASPairs Main Menu, select SASPairs Tools and Utilities.
  3. In the SASPairs Tools and Utilities menu, select Convert an SPSS Data Set to a SAS Data Set.
  4. Follow the instructions in the subsequent windows.
