SASPairs:
Genetic modeling in SAS

How do I change the SASPairs font?

Background:

You may change the font used in the SASPairs frames, but the experience is harrowing. I know there is an easier way of doing this, but I do not have the time to do it.

NOTE WELL: the change in font does not apply to every single field in every single frame. There are some frames where SAS has set the font and it appears that there is no way to change it. Complain to the SAS Institute.

Instructions (are you ready for this?):

  1. Start SAS in the usual way that you start SAS. Then in the left-most window, double click on Libraries (see below).
  2. If the Libraries icon is not in the left-most window, then click on the SAS Explorer button. The Libraries icon (and possibly a list of the Libraries) will appear.
  3. From the list of active libraries, double click on Spguilib.
  4. Double lick on the SAS Catalog call Spguicat.
  5. A list of all of the frames, SCL code and other files will appear. Double click on the frame called Create_font. NOTE WELL: there will be two files called Create_font. The frame has the icon shown below. (The other file, with an icon that looks like a page of text, contains the SCL code).
  6. The Create_font frame will appear (see below). Right click anywhere in this frame and from the pull down menu, select Properties.
  7. The Properties window for the frame will appear (see below). Do the following:
    • (7a): In the left-hand panel, click on Title[Text Label Control].
    • (7b): Use the scroll bar on the right and scroll until you see font Attribute appear. (The Attributes are in alphabetical order).
    • (7c): Under the Value column for font, click (list).
    • (7d): Click the button to the left that has the ellipsis at the bottom.
  8. A window will appear that contains the fonts and some of their attributes (see below). Select the font that you want and then click the Ok button.
WARNING: The sizes of the fields for text items were developed using Courier 12 pt. If you select a font size larger than this, certain instructions, options, and other text items may not appear in the SASPairs frames.
  9. After selecting the new font:
    • (9a): Click on the Create_font Frame window to make it the active window.
    • (9b): Click the compile button.
    • (9c): Click the test button. This actually resets the font.
  10. Finally, from the File menu, select Close. This will close the Create_font frame and properties windows. A message will appear asking if you want to save the changes you made to Create_font. Select either Yes or No.
