1/17/2012
Welcome back for the Spring 2012 semester everyone! If you are a December 2011 graduate receiving this email, you will be removed from this list shortly so I apologize you are getting this communication, but wish you well in your future endeavors. For the rest of you, I hope you had a very relaxing and enjoyable break and are ready for a very successful semester. For the first week of classes, I am on walk-in hours only which can be found on my website as always (http://psych.colorado.edu/~advising/laurel.html). Appointment times will appear for the next two weeks by the end of this week. If you need an appointment with me, start checking the aac.colorado.edu website as of Thursday night and you should be able to get an appointment within the next couple of weeks. Remember, I do NOT email advise or communicate with students unless they are on study abroad, but feel free to call my direct line if you can’t make walk-in hours or an appointment. You are also always welcome to call the student assistant line (303-492-1234) for immediate assistance if you reach my voice mail.
I’ve got a lot to cover so here goes:
AUGUST AND DECEMBER 2012 GRADUATES
As of August 2012 graduation, CU will require an on-line application to show intent to graduate. They have just informed advisors about this so if you have already handed in your application for August 2012 or December 2012 graduation, you will still need to do this additional step IN ADDITION to the paperwork you have already handed in to Woodbury 109 (the main A&S office). I do not know the details yet, but when I do, I will let you know. If you are intending to graduate in August or December 2012 and still have not come in to see me for a graduation packet, please schedule an appointment with me by the end of February.
STUDENTS BELOW 2.0 GPA
If your overall GPA is now below a 2.0, you are most likely on probation or dismissal. If you know you have been placed on probation after the fall 2011 semester, I would encourage you to schedule an appointment with me ASAP. If you can’t get in to see me during an appointment, I would encourage you to at least make use of my walk-in hours as quickly as possible. I’d like to assist you in making wise decisions for the spring semester and beyond!
