Thanks! That worked, although I did have to put symbolic links to nine .so library files in my /lib folder in order for them to be recognized, even though their original location *was* in my LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable. No matter... it works now, and all is fine!

Looking forward very much to experimenting. "Computational Explorations" is the most exciting book I've read in a long time... a wonderful synthesis.

You should compile IV from scratch -- grab the latest iv-17-pdp.tar.gz from 
the CU ftp server.
