undeclared identifier

Hello again.

I am trying to compile the 2.1a sourcecode.

I found the spots in the ios-g++-2.8.1 file(s) where streamoff was 
mentioned, and the commented out #ifndef statements, which I "uncommented" 
to make them functional.  The text there read

#ifndef __MAKETA__
.
.
.
#endif

When I went back to 'make all' there seemed to be some progress, then I got 
this error:

/usr/local/pdp++/include/LINUX/css/ta_css.h:259: 'TA_stream' undeclared
