You need to set the PatternSpec to_layer to LAYER_NAME, and set the
layer_name to the name of your output layer.  This is now much easier
in v. 2.0a which has a graphical interface for setting the patternspec
stuff (click on Edit Spec in the env window), but in the earlier
version you have to edit the patternspec through the .event_specs menu.
